Love you, Summer! #pugsofinstagram #pugs #dogs #picfx
My pug is named Summer, are you saying your pug is named Summer or that you love the season Summer?
Hey everyone, I wanted to take a moment to interrupt your regularly scheduled pug cuteness and hilarity to remind you to make sure to check your pugs frequently for any healthcare issues and attend regular check-ups! My cute pug Roxy (above) just had to get surgery to remove a mast cell tumor. These kinds of tumors are extremely common in pugs, and are often treatable with surgery. They can look like a lot of things, so please check your pugs for any unfamiliar bumps, especially if they are growing or changing, and see your vet if you see any strange bumps on your puggy. We found a smaller than dime-sized bump on Roxy that at first appeared smooth, then seemed to get bigger/bumpier, so we took her to the vet. Even though it was tiny, we had to operate ASAP as these types of tumors can be quite aggressive. Luckily the vet was able to completely remove the tumor and Roxy’s prognosis is good, though we have to continue to check for any new lumps and increase her regular check-ups with the vet. She is recovering very well now and soon will get her stitches (and cone!) removed for good. We all know pugs are susceptible to health problems, but it can be hard to believe it will happen to your little puglet. Sorry this is so long, just want to encourage everyone to check their puggies and give them a big hug for me!
